Crimes of the Future

"This is what the work of a visionary filmmaker looks like. Forget the new flesh. Long live the old Cronenberg." - Rolling Stone

As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed... Their mission -- to use Saul's notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.

"Our modern anxiety over everyday lives that are ever more suffused by technology... has rarely been expressed with such simplicity and intuitive rightness." - Slate

"It’s both a nightmare and a wan farce, the kind of tonal blend that only Cronenberg could create, and despite his cynicism about what awaits us, I hope he never stops thinking ahead." - The Atlantic

"Is surgery the new sex? Body horror maestro David Cronenberg and a cast led by Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart tackle that question and more in a futuristic sci-fi shocker that will leave you laughing, squirming and—yikes—thinking." - Peter Travers, ABC News

"Cronenberg has crafted a story that brings together what we do to our bodies to feel and look good – though that’s sometimes in the eye of the beholder – and the synthetic materials that play a key role in both our modern lives and environmental crises." - USA Today
