SUUBI: Dance, Drum, Dream

Fundraiser for Dream for Uganda

It started with a dance… inspired by the drums… that lead to a dream… a Dream for Uganda. SUBBI: Dance, Drum, Dream is a film shot in 2014 at the Cambridge Secondary School in Kyengera, Uganda, just west of the capital of Kampala.

Cambridge is one of only a handful of post primary education facilities in Uganda that focuses on teaching the arts. The Cambridge Suubi Fusion Dance Troupe (Suubi means Hope in Luganda) travelled to Canada in 2013 where they wowed Canadian audiences in the KW area.

A year later, a film team followed the dance troupe to Uganda. There, the students received instruction by Bryan Beerbaum and Zac Widarski, music graduates of Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. Assisted by Fanshawe film school graduate Mitch Pollard, and led by Canadian filmmakers Paul Campsall and Paul Francescutti, SUUBI: Dance, Drum, Dream chronicles the relationship developed by the Uganda/Canadian collaboration.
